The sega saturn didn't go too well, The N64 was mainly rareware but the Playstation was loved by all. Third party developers released game after game and few dissapointed. The games just got better and better, graphics improved and things you thought your console could never do were poping up time after time,no one could keep up with the brilliant titles released.
One of my old school friends rung up the other day and we got talking about games and he mentioned that he bought a dreamcast, he said there isn't any games for it,it's like the sega saturn, basically "it's dead".
I told him about my PS2 and what it's like but it's yet to display anything of what the PS did (at the time). The good games are around but its almost a year since it's release and it still doesn't feel right, The ill fated dreamcast is STILL the only console you can go online with and it's what 2 years old, everybody i know seems to have a different machine, some even going back to their PC's.
I don't think anything will top what the Playstation had and the gaming industry and it's gamers will never be the same again, The PS2 will have some pretty spectacular games but the gamecube has now got resident evil and the xbox has some very good games on, not to mention PS2 ports.
Playstation
I'll miss it

- but with games like pso pod 2 and speed devils online there isent any lag at all, and with quake 3 it isent that bad after a while
But the PSX came along a good few years after the SNES and Mega Drive came along, but because of capabilities in technology everything gets done quicker now and who knows what we'll be talking about in 5 years time.
Thought i'd point that out.

HA HA, sorry I couldn't help laughing at that. But i'm not gonna start goin anti Playstion crap, granted it was the biggest console for years. Didn't appeal to me but no one can deny the popularity of the console.

Now I KNOW I'm not the only one to think that's rubbish. The PlayStation doctrine was "release what you like; hopefully a few out of a hundred will be alright-ish". The N64 policy, on the other hand, went "You must go through stringent quality control and thus only the best of the best will get through". Neither policy was perfect but I sure as hell know which one I prefer.
Anyway, I think you'll find that the N64 has the greatest number of top titles out of that entire generation of consoles. And please don't do something petty like call me a fanboy or make me list them, because a.) That's pathetic, and b.) I'm pretty confident I could do it anyway.

This is very true indeed. The PS2 offers titles that pass for 'good' at best but for a console that was launched some time ago, the games are pretty poor in quality, really. Perhaps with time the PS2 will pick up but at the moment I just cannot see absolutely any reason to buy it, bar a vain attempt to be fashionable.
