This morning my Nintendo magazine came (NGC Magazine) and it came with a free mini magazine. In it was a guide to importing a Nintendo Gamecube from Japan. What stunned me was the price to import a game. Say Luigi's Mansion, it would be about £70! To import a game. I thought that was the price for it when would come out in the UK.
Also a few issues back there was a chart from a Nintendo expert saying that to import a Gamecube from Japan, it would be something like £500!
So I ask you what's the point in importing? Okay you get something before other people in the UK, but you even need to keep importing from from that country because the UK versions of the games would not be able to play on a Japanese version of the Gamecube. I'm waiting 'till my Birthday for a Gamecube which is about the same time as the launch date in the UK. If you ask me, wait until the proper launch date in your country. There's no point in importing.

Where do people find these prices...like I said, they've been available from certain reputable online import stores for < £200 (including step down) since launch - currently £171.

Importing can be great. You get games sooner, with better graphics, usually more modes, and even get to play many games that don't come out over here.

It need not be expensive. Of course the GC after release will be £500... it just came out for God's sake! Give it a month, and it'll be at about £300. As for the games, these will always be more expensive over here, but will soon drop form the £70 to about £50.

Oh, and remember, if you actually go on holiday to America, say, then you can buy the games and console for a FAR cheaper price than over here! After all, we are totally ripped off!

Oh, and the games run faster too! (Except for most Dreamcast games)

I have been learning it for about 3 years now, but I can tell you that there is no way you will be able to play an RPG or other text heavy games in another language unless you are completely fluent in the language. Schools won't get you this advanced really.

It depends where you are importing from! You can import PAL (so they work on our consoles) games from Australia before they come out here, and sometimes cheaper. The only differance is that they dont havve German or French lanuages on them.
