Does this ëfirst impressioní give us the wrong one? Is it right to show us only what we want to see? Because this is what they do, if any of you subscribe to a gaming magazine or purchase them on a regular bases then you will find that every month there will be a preview section of the games that will be coming to a screen near you. All of this looks and sounds very appealing each month and especially as a lot of the hyped games are sequels to massively popular games.
Itís is natural reaction to think highly of a sequel and luckily for us when it comes to games the sequels are 90% of the time better then original whilst with the poor old film industry itís around 2% of the time the sequels are better then the original. The thing is with films you need to offer them something new and original that hasnít been seen before, this is near impossible as the original isnít always designed so that is can carry on from it and all the good thoughts go into the original leaving it hard for the sequel to give the audience something new and original.
Gaming on the other hand is different. All you need to do is keep along lines of the original and add a few extras along the way. You give them extra tracks, extra guns, extra cars, more options, better graphics and longer gameplay all depending on the genre of game that it is. It doesnít seem that hard to do and if the original was named ëHalf Lifeí or something like that then itís even easier to do.
If there was just a whisper of ëHalf Life 2í to be in production then it would be the talk of every games magazine in the northern hemisphere and would be on the tongue of everyoneís conversations. But would this be something that would be good or bad? I donít mean the game being released I mean the amount of coverage it gets, itís natural of human beings to be curious and thatís how all of these magazines make there money, you get people interested in something that interests them. Itís a moneymaking business so just give them what they want, isnít that right?
ëThe thing with first impressions is that you only get one chanceí. Thatís a good example of what theyíre trying to convince you to do, by already making you love this game before you play it means that it will be probed into your brain to not think a bad word about it, you will no longer have an opinion for yourself as youíve grown to love it. And letís say this hugely hyped game, take Metal Gear Solid 2 for example, turns on to be a load of dogís droppings the first time you play on it, then because of what youíve read and heard it will make you want to play on.
So tell me after reading this what your opinions are on the topic of hype

To be honest I haven't got a clue what your on about. I get that your being sarcastic, but i don't get why. The topic I wrote was on Chat and you also happened to reply to it if I remember rightly, I will go and pop it if I can find it.
I wasn't saying you copied it or anything, just that it is very similar.
