To play NTSC movies you need

1)Either Region X, Action Replay 2 or some sort of DVD region Software for PS2.

2)An NTSC (60Hz) compatible TV.

3)An RBG lead, Some TVs even though they are NTSC compatible still display the image in black and white if you are using a composite lead (cable suppied)

In order to play region 1 (or any other region) DVD's on your PS2 in colour. Your TV needs to be NTSC compatible. I've also been told that if you run your PS2 through a NTSC compatible video player, it also works. But then you get the green screen or something??? This green screen can be overcome by using the Region X thingy.
I suppose you dont as you said you play copies too which means you must have "chipped" your PS2. Silly boy!

For the full monty, you need to first of all buy DVD region X.

Then you need to throw away your standard PS2 AV cable and buy a proper Scart lead.

(You need a TV that handles it too, but they nearly all do these days)
