Pretty much everyone hates Star Wars: Episode One.

Star Wars: Episode One is, essentially, a kids movie, just like the other three.

Ask any kid whether he liked Star Wars: Episode One.

See what answer you get.

I'd say it was a pretty successful film.

There's nothing to discuss really. Expectations werte too high and Lucas has always been a below par film maker who fluked in creating a universe with marketable characters that people fell for. The initial trillogy is ludicrously over-romantacised and if it was released cold today would make a blip on the box office.

At first Ididn't like the origional star wars trillogy, but that was when I was a small boy (mainly because of the electricity stuff and the evilness of the emporer in return of the jedi, quite a few years passed until I got to see it again (when they released the special edition to the cinemas) then I loved the films and got into star wars properly. Now I think it will take time for episode 1 to grow on people (about 20 years for some) or the release of the other 2 films in the trillogy so it can be viewed as part of a set of films rather than just being judged on its own.

The best bit in Episode one is right at the start, where he puts his lightsaber into the metal door, and it melts away.

I thought "Hey, that hadn't occured to me."

Then I turned off my mind for a bit and enjoyed the rest, but looking back on it, it sucked.

Even the books written by fans were better than that utter pap of a story.

HAHA @ YH. Sorry, but you asked for it. Jar Jar was generally annoying. 'Me's afraid me's has been banished!' Shut up, you annoying CGI thing. Qui-Gon should have carved it up. I actually liked TPM, because I am an avid SW fan. I don't think anyone will disagree that the Original Trilogy was better, but TPM was a pretty decent film if you ignore the Star Wars tag.

Jar Jar was the best thing about TPM, as far as I'm concerned.

That will probably get me laughed off the forums, but hey, someone had to say it.

You all know it's true....

Star Wars wasn't Star Wars when it came out.
It was another sci-fi film that our generation has turned into something else.

Nothing could live up to the expectations.
And I enjoyed TPM, not loved it, but enjoyed it.
