Hi all. This is my first post on here but probably not my last.
I'm looking to go online with my PS2 and do it wirelessly. As it stands now, I'm looking to get a Netgear Wireless router with 4 wired ports, one of which I'd use for a computer and have two access points for the PS2 and another computer. I'm just wondering if this is possible, or does the PS2 need to be wired into the router as well? If it is possible, what kind of access point would I need?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

You'd probably benefit from posting this in the PC forum also.

I'm not 100% sure about the technical side of wireless setups (I've never used that kind of technology) but I did a search of the uk.playstation.com forums for you. Theoretically, the PS2 works with wireless networks. There's a diagram at the top of the PS2 Network Gaming Forum describing an untested setup and what products are recommended.

In practice, the following setup has worked for beta trialists who recommend it highly:

Speedtouch 530 Router
Linksys WAP54G Access Point
Linksys WET11 Ethernet Bridge

The WET11 in particular crops up in most of the beta trialists' wireless network setups. Whether it works with a Netgear Wireless Router though I can't say, sorry. My advice would be to do a search for 'wireless' on the uk.playstation.com forums and see what it comes up with. If in doubt, ring Sony. Although they don't support 3rd party hardware they'll have enough experience now to be able to say what should work and what doesn't following feedback from the beta trial.

Dont see why not.

As long as you can connect the PS2 to the router somehow then it should all work.

I have no hands-on experience of wireless networking, but I don't see why it wouldn't work - networks are supposed to be transparent, and I guess that would include wireless as well as wired. I wouldn't blame you if you waited for someone with a more definitive answer though :O)
