I have successfully changed the oil and filter in my car.
I didn't think I was going to manage it when I couldn't undo the sump drain screw. But fortunately the wheel bolt wrench thing fit, and some wrestling later, I prevailed.
However, I will have to recycle many jam jars before I make amends to mother nature for the used engine oil I spilled. There was only supposed to be 4 litres in there (plus the engine cleaner stuff I put through before I changed it). But my 4.5 litre container overflowed and only about half the excess found its way into my spare ice cream tub.
I also fixed the broken brake light and identified a new problem with water getting into the light housing.
I might have fixed the remote locking on the drivers door. I don't really know yet as it was only sometimes a problem.
I have no idea how I'm going to overcome the fuel filter. It's an odd one in a difficult location, with housing I'm not sure how to remove, and it only has about a centimetre of flexible pipe at each connecting end, so I might end up pouring gallons of petrol all over my face when I try to change it.
However, when the fuel filter it done, I'll have fully serviced my car (bar resetting the service light, but that doesn't count).
Obviously when I have fully serviced it, there will still be about a million other challenges to confront. But that's the fun of buying a second hand car :^)
