The "Freeola Customer Forum" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
News in the Freeola email contained an article on a site called Getsomereal.com. This is a Sweedish campaign where they are trying to wean "sad old men" off internet porn by setting up fake porn sites that link to a page telling them to get a life. They currently have 37 thousand odd sites, and you can set up your own too (using a quite clever bit of flash too!)
Most people have looked at porn on the internet, some for the obvious reasons, some just out of curiosity over what is out there. The fact is that everything is out there, if you get off on pictures of dogs wearing kilts operating smoke machines then you can probably find it without too much hastle. The porn industry leads the internet industry technology wise, they were the first to do webcams, credit cards, real time chat and so on. Porn has officialy improved the internet.
The thing is, is that setting up 37,000 fake sites isn't the answer. The internet is 98% rubbish as it is without this, and the people looking for what they want are used to trawling the rubbish out there. If they come across a site that doesnt give them what they want they move on, just like you or I do shopping for a CD or a game online.
With the obvious exclisions of child pornography and the like for legal reasons, the internet is supposedly a free place. One of the best features of the net is that whatever you want, you can find on the net. Companies like getsomereal.com should see that the net isn't to be moderated. If people want to see porn then they will, and such companies will be targeted by hackers for trying to tell people what to do.
If people want to look at porn, then let them. Surely it's better for them to get what they want in imagery than beat up their wives or whatever. If people want to look at sites to make cakes then let them, rather than people experimenting and hurting themselves. As long as pages present their content plainly, so that people who do not want to see their content can move on, they won't really do that much harm.
Slave - keep the net free.
PS. If I win a GAD on this, whoever finds the best site containing pictures of dogs in kilts operating smoke machines get's it. :D

If you wanna look at porn, go for it, Internet is Free-4-all anyway, if you don't like it, don't use it.
I SO hope that isn't actually a real site....
> Try www.dogswearingkilts.com
Now that IS a shame... :D (it doesn't work)
Suggestions:
Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
