On one hand you would have the company who make the best RPG games in the world, on the other you have a children's icon in the West, and something which can sell itself without much effort. By now there is probably already a Harry Potter game in the making, and I must admit, I don't have a clue about anything to do with Harry Potter, but I'm sure it could only be a good thing for Square to either be given, or to actively seek the licence. They are desperately seeking a decent cash boost after the poor box office performance of their Final Fantasy movie, and Potter would gain so much by having a massively successful and popular game.

You can already bet that the Potter licence has went to some low budget firm backed by a fairly sizable publisher, so that a game can be put together without much fuss, and as quickly as possible. It wont be anything complicated, it may not even have the quality of other RPG titles already availabe, for all we know, it may not even be a proper RPG game. From what I can tell aout the series, this game could be huge, it has all the qualities of a massive RPG game, and Square wouldn't have to put in the effort of making up charater profiles, just make a game based on J/K/Rowling;s universe.

As Square are already showing, they aren't shy of making gaming connections to try to boost their financial situation. Only last week they sold roughly 20% of their company to Sony, and they are currently working on a very exciting project with Disney called Kingdom Hearts (Disney's character portfolio present). So the Daddy of RPG games caught a cold, but it has the support it needs to make a full recovery, but I'm sure a Potter license would make the company unstopable.

True enough, I doubt many people could catch the feel of the books in a game. They struggle to catch the feel of books in the films and only now with games like Metal Gear are developers starting to capture the feel of films in games.

Its simple maths really.

Either way, the game will be out in time for christmas and will very probably be pants!

I also don't think that they should make a game.
