Damn I love that pun.

And on a similar music-related Terrorist thread, to remove and fear or threat from this Afghan situation try this:

Osama Bin Laden (sing to the tune of Outkast "Sorry Ms Jackson).

He dont sound nearly so hardcore now does he?
And now you will always, always hear it like that when you read the name or hear someone else talk of him.

"Come Mr Taliban, tally me disaster"
I like that pun.

This raises another 'popular' issue.. that of making humour out of anything remotely related to anything serious.

Jokes with a hint of racism? Nope, not allowed.

Jokes in any way related to deaths? Nope, not allowed.

Jokes about absolutely anyone other than the average working class white male? Nope, not allowed.

TV broadcast satirising 'investigative documentraries', and featuring paedophilia? Nope, not allowed.

Humour n.
The ability to perceive, enjoy, or express what is amusing, comical, incongruous, or absurd.

Seemingly, not allowed.

Ideally I'd like to quote the telegraph's comments on a 'free Britian' here, but I lack the time to look them up. Suffice it to say they're not afraid to point out the absurdity of the unprecedented level of 'political correctness' imposed on us, (though they're clever enough not to use quite those words)

I never said he wasn't taking it seriously, I know he does because this isn't the only topic about it. When I said "Remember 7000 people died so you could hear that song" it was not an attack on him, it was a point I felt needed making and its undeniable that those songs would not eist without those deaths. Show me where I actually say he, personally, is making a joke out of it, because I dont say that !

Cheers Kitty.

Stranger, I wasn't making light in anyway at all ok?
It was an excuse to use a good pun on a Harry Belafonte song (Come Mr Taliban) and then the Outkast thing (pronouncing Osama Bin Laden to that tune) is neither laughing at, nor trivialising the issue.

It is an attempt at using humour to remove some of the fear that everyone has, because with the climate of fear then our governments can usher in any dubious laws they wish to and just say "Look at the nasty Arab, he'll make you sick with Anthrax, this is for your own protection"

That's all, and as someone that lost a relative in the Pentagon attack, I'm the last person on earth to joke about those deaths.

Trivialise/satirise, its a fine distinction. As for Goatboy not taking September 11th seriously I suggest you read some of his posts. Hardly the postings of someone not giving a serious amount of thought to the whole sad, sorry episode in recent history.

Any songs making use of lyrics directly related to September 11th for the purpose of fun, irony or satire are an insult to everyone who died that day.

Remember 7000 people died so you could hear that song. I read in one paper that a dj has been sacked in derbyshire for making a similar song and have no sympathy for him.
