You are Joe, a regular kid enjoying a quick flick at the cinema with your lady friend, but not before she's kidnapped by the villian on screen, so into the movie you go to rescue your lady, kinda reminds me of the Arnie travesty that was Last Action Hero come to think of it.
In anycase, I sat down for about 30 minutes for a quick play and I have to say, it's certainly a fresh take on the aged side-scrolling beat-em-up genre. Where the much-vaunted Slow-Down and Mach Speed facilities could easily be perceived as a gimmick, they have been implemented well. Joe obtains these powers as you progress through the early part of the game, they allow you to put together some rather stylistic, devastating combos, which is key here, since during certain points throughout the level you are graded on your ability to dispose of your adversaries in style, kinda like Devil May Cry.
Oh, and it's better example of cell-shading than Zelda too IMO ^_^
Will obviously play more this evening, but so far, so good.
PAL owners don't despair, the JPN version is import-friendly, most of the text is in English and the voice-overs are in English with Japanese subtitles too. There is Japanese text in there, but not so much that would detract from the game. Oh, and it works with both versions of Freeloader - or so I'm told anyway.

There's English text - and speech - in a Japanese game?!?
Whatever next...! :o
However, I'll continue my wait for its official European release later this year, just because there are still some "oldies" on my GameCube that I have yet to finish with.
Glad to see Nintendo AREN'T putting a stop to imports via the 'net, too. :)
