Yer! It looks like ED is finally being made into a movie... I don't know if the company is capable of making the film as atmospheric as the game, but any attempt is good enough for me. However, I'm not too sure about the TV series...

Pokemon started as a game you idiot and then it turned into a global nuthouse.

As for the Eternal Darkness film competition well it was where people had to depict insanity anyway they saw fit and then entered this film competiton. The winner got something like a Gamecube, a copy of Eternal DArkness and something else.

I think you'll find Goldeneye was a succesful film long before being made into a game, and Pokemon was a multi zillion $ franchise before being licensed for console games.

I think it would be better off being turned into a 6 part mini series each part being 2 hours long.

I have a good idea the series will "suck", but there's a lot of potential in the film being great - if they can get the right guys in to work on it, and it's just a one-off without any "lame" sequel on-the-way.

It will be hard to reproduce any of the brilliant `Sanity Effects´ from the game, but, perhaps they could introduce some interesting sudden-twists - like those in `The Sixth Sense´ and `Fight Club´, for example?

And who would play Alex Roivas, and the rest?
For Alex, due to her likeness, Sarah Michelle Gellar would be an obvious choice - and one that will almost-certainly 'sell' the film, no matter what it's about, just because she's in it -- just look at the new Scooby Doo film!

All this talk of Eternal Darkness has made me want to play it again...
It's a shame, though, since I haven't even TOUCHED this game since the day it first-arrived through my letter-box...
And I was just thinking about going back to it last night, after recently finishing Wario World and getting stuck in Enter the Matrix.

There has been a fair few Nintendo only games made into movies.
Mario, was rubbish.
Goldeneye which was excellent
Pokemon. It used to have it's own forum here on SR. Not surprisingly they shut it.

If the story is ripped from the game at least it'll be better that way.

Remember there was a large Eternal DArkness film competition prior to the release of Eternal Darkness.
