It seems BT has finally gotten around to upgrading my local exchange (Yay!)...

Though I'm having quite a bit of difficulty choosing the right ISP. Theres a number of sites providing price comparisons, which is all good...

I'm just a little unsure as to which ISP's provide decent connections, and which I should avoid like the plague?

Wherever I go, there are always plenty of complaints about the larger ISP's, BT, Freeserve, AOL, Tiscali... (and plenty of complaints about the smaller ISP's too!)

But is it just the unsatisfied few who are complaining, whilst the majority are silently happy with their ISP? - I know a number of people with BT at home, all of whom have great connections with no problems at all?

Since the people here seem to know their stuff, I was wondering if anyone could give me a little help?

BT is good. Even though it's meant to be 512, I have gone past 110kb/sec when downloading off of a secure site. Normally 54-70kb/sec on Kazaa. It may help that I'm right next to the telephone exchange :D

I'm with PIPEX (www.pipex.com). It's 70 quid startin fee and then 24 a month. You get the first month for half price etc etc. For all the la-de-dar click on the box on the left of that website. Pipex Solo Extreme or sumerts!

Great services and friendly support

The coolest ISP ever!
In my opinion, the ISP is the best I have ever used. They guarantee 'first time connection - everytime', which they have never let me down on.
