Try running a DVD lens cleaner through it, and check your instruction manual for the Diagnostics section and run that - both could help.
If that doesn't cure the problem, your only option is to call Sony on 08705 998877. If it's still under warranty, they will repair or replace it free of charge. Otherwise, they will charge you for it.
