Have you ever played Roller Coaster Tycoon? If not, basically it's like a windowsy looking version of Theme Park... it's very sophisticated, but loads of fun at the same time.
What I propose is a gardening game produced off the same engine... I know it might sound a bit stupid, but it would attract loads of older people into gaming, and it wouldn't be too out-of-sorts to join the current PC market!
I know making lots of gardens and planting lots of plants doesn't sound too great, but open your mind a little more and you'll see what I mean... I'm talking gardening contests, making money from gardening... doing up celebrities gardens, getting contracts for landscape gardening... advertising... and more!
The business management element of the game would shine through quite well and it would even add a dash of strategy to the fray. With the right engine and the option to research and read up on some plants and flowers I think it'd go down a treat! You could learn and play... you'd have to plant the right plants and flowers at the right time... you could even go as far as to adding ponds and fish, fences, gates and bridges! Not all gardens are small, but you could work your way up to the big time... and even go as far as to making or signing a TV program!
You could walk through your garden in first person mode looking at and reading up in the flowers that you've planted... you can share gardens over the 'Net and even go all round the world (in the game) and have to make a garden that fits in with the culture!
I know it's a bit 'sad' for younger gamers, but older folks would love it... beleve it or not there are older people out there who have computers... I bet Alan Tichmarsh has one!
I think i'd call it Go Go Gardener!
The options are almost limitless! Anything garden orientated could be implemented into the game... even making swimming pools, or tropical baths for the ultra rich, with plant beds lining the pools!
It might take quite a bit of advertising and it would need the likes of EA to publish it, but I think with the right plugging it would see quite a bit of fame... and internet upgrades including plants, fences, new countries and an array of new options could always be in the works!
Go Go Gardener!: It's what your grandparents have been waiting for!
Cue: Laughter and Abuse
Game
After posting my 'Pb and Meka...' topic I did read the Butchered Classics post... But gardening only came to me from my Dad complaining that it was raining...
Sorry, but it was purely coincidence.
Game
Firstly, I rant about Old games getting pointless facelifts and state that classics should be left alone, then a topic thats very similar appears courtesy of you.
Now we have Go Go Gardener, which reads like you've taken my idea about reality gaming and expanded on the gardening aspect. I even mentioned "trying to get that TV deal" as part of my gardening game.
It could just be some shocking coicidence, but "they say lightning never strikes twice"!
