memory should i start with i can always upgrade memory is cheap

Well it depends how much you are willing to spend. What is your budget roughly?

That is quite tight. Would you be able to take bits like the monitor from your old PC?

The best graphics card on the market incidentally are as much as £350. The FX 5200 is the entry level GeForce. It is ok. I personally prefer ATI but for the same money as the FX5200 all I could find on those two websites was a Radeon 9000. With 64Mb. No contest.
