Too many people get hyped up and excited when they see big titles like Mario and Zelda (not just Gamecube). I found the N64 to have too little titles. The people I talk to about it agree with me but they say the quality of them are excellent. Some of Nintendoís games are brilliant like Perfect Dark but the cartoon graphics from Zelda, Banjo Kazooie and Pokemon really get to me. I canít stand that sort of thing. What happened to the big monster fighting robots that we used to see in the original consoles? You might expect the cartoon graphics from a SNES but from N64 and soon to be Gamecube, I donít like it. And what it Luigiís Mansion about. Someone described it as a Ghostbusters knock off. I couldnít have said it any better. I have an N64 so donít think Iím a Playstation junky, knocking Nintendo, butÖI just bought a Playstation 2 andÖ
Much better I would have to say! The game play of most of the top titles is fantastic. Take GT3 for instance, the best driving sim ever to be made. No questions asked. Then thereís Grand Theft Auto 3, Tony Hawk 3, Fifa 2002 and Metal Gear Solid 2, all soon to be released. A spot of pure genius and I canít wait for all of them. But, then thereís Playstationís public enemy number 1 which looks a little something like this ÖloadingÖetc. Everyone hates that, especially in demos where you want to play it over and over. Boy thatís annoying! I would have to say that is the only thing I donít like about the Playstation 1 and 2. Theyíve sorted out their CD cases by making plastic boxes, improved crackling graphics and kept prices at a respectable level (well, at least SR has). Unlike them, Sony have taken their time in releasing quality titles and perfecting them and I must say it will be worth the wait.
Finally, thereís the words that are on the tips of everybodyís tongue whether you want it or not, X-Box. Iím not really sure what to expect with this. I donít like the look of the console or the controllers at all. Bit too much like the Dreamcast for me! I like the look of the titles that are on the release date though. The Sims and Black & White are two shockers for me. I thought it would be releasing brand new games but I have no doubt that Microsoft will do well. Their marketing area has been tried and works on the PC. Good luck to them. What I expect the X-Box to have though, is a few bugs and flaws with the games. Are the games going to crash like PC games? Surely a console is more likely to crash than a chunky piece of desktop? I used to think X-Box was going to be the best ever. Now I am not so sure. Microsoft certainly has the experience in the PC World but can they compete with the Power of the Playstation or the Die Hard fans of Nintendo? From what Iíve been reading in the chat forums, yes. If it was down to me, no.
If you feel you N64, Playstation or Dreamcast is a bit out of date and you are looking for a new console. The PS2 may be the oldest by Spring next year but it is the one to watch. Sony will survive whatever they get thrown at them. With names like Resident Evil, Final Fantasy and the ones I mentioned earlier, in my opinion they should have no competition whatsoever! Gamecube. Well I would hope it to be a flop after my disappointment with cartoonified games from the N64. Nintendo definitely has the most dedicated and devoted fans out of the whole console war. Nintendo will survive through thick and thin, no doubt.
Armies of console followers will soon take over the world. Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony and well, possibly not Sega will all go to war in a final epic battle over who has the best console. In the near future, each Manufacturer will construct giant monster robots based upon the role figures from their consoles. Sony will blood sucking zombies from Resident Evil, crazy taxi drivers, a troop of pro skaters, the whole team from Tekken and possibly a few convicts due to be sentenced for Grand Theft Auto. X-Box will have households upon households of happy families raging war, giant scary animals which have magical powers (B&W) and Robin Hood, Maid Marion and all the merriest men in the land! Then thereís Nintendo. Not intending to be mean but theyíd have no chance! 5 furry Pokemon, 4 swifty Jedi, 3 pumped wrestlers, 2 secret agents, 1 fat plumber and partridge in a pear tree! Maybe the swifty Jedi could stand a chance but not against the Team Tekken. Hey, that could be a game idea!
*Ahem*
You complain about some people dissing the PS2 but slate the other consoles at the same time.
What's more, you're incredibly uninformed.
Resident Evil won't be on the Playstation any more - the entire series is coming to the Gamecube.
Tekken? Not yet, but seeing as Soul Calibre 2 (made by the same company) is coming to the cube so Tekkem may follow.
As for your last paragraph, let me tell you, these Pokemon aren't as cute and cuddly as they look.
I wouldn't rate the Tekken crew's chances against them!
I'm getting a Xbox - initially for Crazy Taxi Next & Jet Set Radio Future.
I also intend on buying a GameCube and a PS2 - but only so I can bring down on them a huge sledgehammer and smash them to smithereens. *only jokin'*
