Exactly!
I would have thought that Nintendo would have used it first. Maybe for a Pokemon, or Zelda game.
Afterall it's "their" technology, so I would have thought that they would want to get it working first.

Well, there's a link between them all then, surely?
The link configuration may be different, so you may be right in that there is an inventor as far as the particular cable is concerned. Of course, it may also be an adaption of existing technology with a different plug on the end.
My point is that it's hardly a major technological breakthrough designed solely by Nintendo for use with the GC and GBA.
But we're getting away from YH's main point, which I believe was that it's surprising that Sega are making the first major use of it, and not Nintendo themselves.
And there is zero link between the inventing of docking stations, VMUs and the GBA/GC link cable. They all allow two way flow between two electronic devices, but then so does a parallel cable, or a USB cable. So does a twisted copper wire. However, these are all totally seperate inventions with differing inventors.
I don't know why, but I just assumed that Nintendo would make use of the link up first....
Sega are pioneering this technology. Nintendo invented it. Difference.
> If Nintendo invent the link, they are the pioneers.
Yes, *if* - but they didn't.
Sega had the VMS a couple of years ago, which is the same principle; but even they didn't invent it.
Presumably the 'pioneers' were whoever invented the portable/docking-station computers.
If

I know, I was just messing about with the Sega thing.
But it does surprise me that Nintendo haven't got there first....
