The ending isn't as epic as some of the previous games, but that's to be expected I suppose, as this is part 1 of a 3-part story.
Throughout the whole game, I encountered just 4 bugs:
1. One pice of dialogue in a cut-scene repeated.
2. On just one occasion, Lara's death scream continued through the menus up to the point where I reloaded the game.
3. While playing as Kurtis, I climbed out of a vent only to see him fall through the floor and keep falling into oblivion until I called up the menu and reloaded. Then I did exactly the same thing again, and it was fine.
4. Not really a 'bug', but an annoyance - the boss battle with Boaz when playing as Kurtis was the only time I had any cause to curse the control system. For that particular battle, the controls were really giving me a problem - Kurtis kept losing his weapon lock, and kept rolling instead of jumping. But I managed to sort it out, and while it was frustrating at the time, looking back it really wasn't that bad.
None of the bugs are particularly invasive, and they certainly didn't spoil the game.
Over-all impressions? Excellent. Probably not the massive improvement that many were expecting, but then what is? It's a solid and fun game, which definitely moves the series along. More of a step in the right direction than a giant leap.
I'm already looking forward to the next installment, and hopefully - as Core already have the story written - they will have time to tighten up the game engine completely and eliminate the little bugs that are there at the moment.
One final observation on the game: Kurtis is a pansy!
Please Core, don't bother with other playable characters unless you're going to make them worthwhile. The fact that he can't swim is bad enough, but giving him special abilities which the player has no control over is a no-no, and feels tacked-on as a convenient puzzle solver.
*pats on back whilst sticking on "kick me, ive completed AOD" to his back. (right in the place you cant reach)*
well done indeed!
