With the current situation being what it is I can not help wondering if the world cup will not take place next summer. OK - I know the tournament is 8 months away but we are being told repeatedly that this will be a long war which could last for years. It could well be the things will be more intense come next summer. If that is so it strikes me that FIFA have a tough decision to make. Terrorists would probably view a 'hit' on the worlds biggest sporting tournament as the ultimate reprisal.
Am I being a pessimist or is this a view shared by others ?.

Wasnt it Copa America that got delayed for a while?
Colombia (the hosts) were given a warning or something because there were some killings.
If there are suspicions of terrorist attacks I can see the World Cup being delayed until security is sure everything is safe.

To be honest I'd never thought of this but it is a damn good point.
Also to rub salt in the wounds, it is tsunami (sings) season in Japan/South Korea when th tournament is to be held.
And...
The relationship between Japan and South Korea has became a lot worse than when it was announced they would co-host.
All because Scotland won't be there ;-)
