in this post im going to cover all aspects of this argument, and will see if these people are correct or crazy.
the first opinion: games are the cause...
you can see why people blame video games for these things, theres many games out there that are purly violence.theres resident evil, fighting games, state of emergency and worst of all grand theft auto. for the purpose of this post i am going to focus on grand theft auto 3.this game can be used to peacefully drive or walk round a city, and being a role model person. but thats not what anyone uses it for, you steal cars, hook hookers, kill people and much much more. people see these things and think that if people see them and learn how to comit them hear then whats stoping them from doing it in real life.and especialy now its in 3D its more real than ever.
The second argument: games are not the cause...
although the games teach us and train us for violence, most game players see that this is wrong and wouldnt dream of doing it in real life.video games arnt reality, although they may look real, they are not.people come to video games to get away from life,to live a fantasy, just like people who read or whatch movies.when your playing a game like gta the things that happen are funny, but if it was to happen in real life we wouldnt be amused.if a few months ago before the incident in america there was a terroist game that let you hijack aroplains, it would be fun,but now it wouldnt and if a game like that was released it wouldnt sell very well.see gamers are human beings to we have respect and feelings, we know when somethings a game and when its not.
My opinion:
you might be able to tell from what i have writen so far that i do not believe games cause acts of violence or crime.neither does films or tv shows.in my opinion the problem with people who do these things is out in the world, its inside them, their family and their home.see i think that people who have a bad home and family life usualy become angry, they bottle up this anger until it erupts and they comit a crime.games have nothing to do with it,their entertainment, not life.
Your opinion:
im quite sure your opinion is around the same as mine, but please feel free to give your opinon.
now im off to go be violent and create crime,as ive been playing gta today, NOT!

That is why there is such thing as an age rating. Films have them and so do games. If people don't obey these ratings, its not the developers or publishers fault now is it.
To be honest, violent games can be used to get rid of the anger and frustration, as somebody has already mentioned. You'd be surprised how much relief you can get out of beating up a load of pixels and triangles.
Also some games influence me like THPS2 made me buy a sk8board a(sad but true) and I often buy other impulse stuff based on games,
but i never even think about copying violent games
Violence is as natural to man as, as, as throwing snowballs.
