does anyone know if there are codes available for a ps2 that makes it able to view region 2 dvd's?

I'm not sure it's possible to play R2 DVDs on a US system, simply because our TV system has more display lines than yours (625 on PAL as opposed to 525 on your NTSC).
You could try this product:

But as it says, it won't let you play PAL discs, only R2 NTSC discs.
You'd probably have to order some kind of display adapter too, such as this:

I'm not saying that these two products will solve your problem - it's just an idea. You'd be best advised to mail the companies first to check if these will do the trick.

Don't PAL PS2's play Region 2 DVD's anyway!? Mine certainly does....?
