Well not quite. Just been reading an article on Cube Europe about "Killer 7" which I never really heard nothing about. But it sounds so cool!

I remember Whitestripes creaming himself over this, I think I know why now: -

"Killer 7`s protagonist`s aim is to stop outbreaks of terrorism around the world. Named Harman Smith, the man`s mind is split into seven different personalities, and he`ll have to use the different abilities of each persona to 'take out' (in the Mafia sense, not the date sense) targets. Not skimping on story, Harman is on a mission of revenge for the killing of his beloved Suzy. Check out the press release for more.

SEVEN DEGREES OF PERSONALITIES COME TOGETHER TO FORM ONE ‘KILLER’ PRODUCT IN CAPCOM’S KILLER 7 FOR NINTENDO GAMECUBE

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- July 11, 2003 -- Capcom Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced new details on its stylized hard boiled action adventure Killer 7™ for the Nintendo™ GameCube. Featuring striking cel-shaded visuals, Killer 7 chronicles the connection between two men whose intertwined paths develop into a compelling tale of fate, revenge, and altering personas. Killer 7 propels players into the consciousness of one man, and his seven different personalities, in an effort to stop a wave of disconcerting indiscriminate terrorism that is plaguing the world. Killer 7 is scheduled to be released in 2004. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating is pending.

In Killer 7, players take on the role of Harman Smith an unlikely assassin who lives life at his own pace. Switching between seven different personalities, he employs each character’s abilities to terminate targets he deems “deserving to die.” Years have passed and violence and instability have started to beleaguer developed nations. People with crazed and distorted smiles are appearing throughout the world. Anyone with this “Heaven’s Smile” becomes violent and begin attacking anyone within close proximity. Now these crazed soldiers have started to overthrow huge city governments and have even taken the life of Harman’s beloved Suzy. It is up to the player to utilize the special powers that dwell within Harman’s seven “partners” to assassinate Kun Lan, the powerful underworld kingpin behind it all.

Among the many features Killer 7 will deliver are:

Distinctive and visually stunning approach to cel shaded environments

Unique cast of playable characters – Each persona has different strengths, special abilities and powers that help Harman proceed through the game."

Sounds cool.

Genius!

A clone of one of the finest current game franchises isn't enough? Perhaps if you mingle them together and come out with a little game called Killer 7 it might turn out to be one of the best games this year.

Great graphics + bits from 3 amazing franchises = sod off!

It looks mint. I have the E3 videos and trailers and it looks absolutley fantastic. The great idea of the blood actually staining the clothes is genius. I can't honestly think of another game which has employed this, not even Hitman 2. Out of the exclusive Capcom titles it is by far the one which I am most interested in. Its a game which I can safely back as a top title and one that won't disappoint.

Capcom go un-noticed by a lot of people yet if you look at what they have released over the years and what they plan to release I would put them up there with the top companies.

Silly thing is though that this game is original, read the game premise and story and try and tell me that it doesn't sound original.

TGM hasn't even read about the game, he's just read the title and come in here and run his mouth off about cell-shading and stealth games.

WS's reply was all the topic needed. He is right. Why does every game have to be an amazing piece of original innovation?

Halo wasn't new and aside from a few tweaks on the vehicle side of things it didn't offer anything new to the FPS genre. That aside I will still stand by the fact that it was one hell of a game.

Metal Gear Solid wasn't new because Metal Gear on the Snez had already gievn them the idea. All Konami did was bring the game into 3 Dimensions and use the technology available at the time.

If the game is good enough then why does it have to add something new or revolutionise a genre? That post by TGM bloke earlier was utter balls.

GBA link-up has very little in common with the Dreamcast VMU. You could play little electronic games on the VMU and it was pretty useless, where as the GBA link-up allows you to unlock extras, export GC characters to use on the GBA versions of the game and other stuff like that.

Anyway, no one ever praised those stupid GBA connectivity games. Tetra's Trackers and that other Zelda thing are 2 of the biggest loads of crap i've ever seen. We all think and have writen on the forums that Nintendo are making far too much of a big thing of the GBA connectivity because it really isn't that good.

Quite where you saw people praising it I have no idea, ever since they were announced at E3 everyone's said it was a load of crap.

This is how I see it: the game will look great, no matter if you like cell-shading or not, but this won't affect the gameplay in the slightest. It could be a complete load of crap, so why argue over something as trivial as graphics?

TGM I'm not gonna have another arguement with you, I really can't be bothered. I also can't be bothered to reply to your whole post, because tnat got way out of hand.

You seem to like making all this wild assumptions without any facts to back them up. A few things for you..

Killer 7 is NOT a stealth game.

Kirby's Air Ride is NOT cell shaded, neither is there a cell shaded Kirby game in development.

GTCube is cell shaded, but never did we say "Yey a Gran Turismo game on Cube so it'll be excellent". If you look back to the topic that I made when GTCube was announced, we were all happy that a realistic racer was coming to Cube, but hoped to god that it wouldn't be so realistic that it went into GT3 territory and was boring.

We've never slated Cell shading, if used the right way (as shown in Zelda and Jet Set Radio) it can look truely superb. You're right about cell shading being over used though, but in the case of Killer 7 it's part of the style of game. It gives it an amazingly stylish look, like something out of a Japanease graphic novel.

Plenty of other games had good puzzles and stories before Zelda. PLenty of other games had great AI, clever vehicles, and a co-op mode before Halo was released.

Does this mean the games have no originality? Yes, to an extent. There are no new ideas as such, but what is there is executed excellently, but what you're basically saying is that because these ideas aren't completely original, the games are boring and crap.

Fine.
Makes sense to me.
