I'm going to America on Saturday, for 3 weeks, and wanted to know if the freeloader 1.06 actually works on all games, unlike the first edition, and whether it is worth picking any up games in America then?

There will probably be some games it wont play, but thats the risk.

They're usually the equivelant of £25-30 over there.

Look on www.ebgames.com for a rough idea of USA high street prices (you may have to add a few dollars but it gives an idea.
