One of the things I like most about arcade-quality home consoles is that you can sit there in your boxers kicking the hell out of some sword-wielding demon without having to keep moving your feet so they don't stick to the floor of gum-filled arcade.
Have you ever met any of the backwards baseball cap-wearing, knuckle draggers that frequent the arcades? If you're going to try to avoid them in the arcade why would you want to play against them on-line, 'cos all they'll do once you've tanned their useless hides is abuse you.
Sony should ignore the on-line strategy (but not all) and concentrate on producing some fine games. Look at PSone-no on-line gaming there and it kicked butt for yonkees.
Let the game players among us get on with our darkened room, sweaty palmed, MP-worrying fun.
If the Games were mainly arcade ones they would get boring and repetartive very quick and not be played.
As for the online gaming, arcade would be good games, but RPG and sports are better i feel.
