This programme wasn't as popular as Transformers, but it kicked rump in it's own little way. It had the best villains. Thay were a race of plant cum vehicles that 'transformed' into deadly plant cum vehicles. Sawboss was their leader.

Praise be the God who gave us the Internet. For loads of TV nostalgia check out sausagenet.com (for kids stuff) or tv.cream.org (for everything else).

They've both got links and (wait for it) theme tunes (!) to download but I got most of mine from Napster when it was in full swing.

The intro to Jayce went a little bit like this:

(actually, it went exactly like this 'cos I've just copied it down)

"Thundering across the stars to save the universe from the Monster Minds, Jayce searches for his father, to unite the magic root and lead his Lightening League to victory over the changing form of Saw Boss.

Wheeled Warriors explode into battle - lightening strikes!

(80's rock style singing begins)

There's a power that comes from deep inside of you
And every day you're reaching toward the light
And you know there's a long, long way ahead of you
But when your wheels get you there, things'll turn out right"

It goes on a bit but some of it I can't quite understand or remember.

For the purpose of triggering of an overload of nostalgia, here's a list of all the theme tunes I've got:

Bananaman
Battle of the Planets
Button Moon
Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers (3:39 extended version)
Count Duckula
DangerMouse
Dogtanian
Duck Tales (2:53 extended version)
Dungeons & Dragons
Fraggle Rock (2:21 extended version)
Godzilla (with Godzooki)
Going Live
Gummi Bears (2:23 extended version)
He-Man
Inspector Gadget
Jamie and the Magic Torch
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors
Jimbo and the Jet Set
Knightmare (Series 1-3) \
Knightmare (Series 4-5) } Oh yes, all 3 versions!
Knightmare (Series 6-8) /
MASK
Pigeon Street - if only I could get the songs from it
Pink Panther ("So now you've met the Pink Panther, the rinky-dink panther...etc)
Pole Position (in French) - don't ask, it was and accident
Pole Position
Rainbow
Star Fleet (intro titles video!) - THE best puppet show ever!
Stoppit and Tidyup - Terry Wogans finest hour!
Superted
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - not 'hero'
Terrahawks - the second best ever puppet show
The A-Team
The Muppet Show
The Mysterious Cities Of Gold
Thundercats
Thundercats (End)
Transformers
Trap Door
Ulysses
Vickie the Viking
Visionaries - massively underrated, shown on 'On The Waterfront' I think
Wacaday
Wizbit

As you can see, I'm missing The Family Ness(!). If anyone out there can help I'd be eternally greatful.

This was brilliant, but MASK and Transformers were better. This was on a par with Centurions and Visionaires though, very good indeed.

I remember watching it, although I never realy understood what was going on.
to me all that semed to happen was that they were always on the run from those plant vehicle things, constantly winning the battles but never the war as there always seemed to be about million more of those plant things for the next episode. What actually was the story?

It had a bit of a Starwars vibe to it, with Jayce being the Luke Skywalker of the group. I seem to remember a Han Solo type character who owned the ship they all went around in.

Anyone else remember thaT?

Go Jayce. I remember two types of the plant/vehicles things. One with a saw that used to cut underground, and another with a bola type thing. And didn't Jayce and his gang have their own vehicles with cool spears and saws?

They had a little girl and a floaty animal thing, then a professor, then a strong man...it was practically the cast of Thundercats but in a more human form.

YES!!!!!!!
This programme rocked!!!!! It was dark and synister, yet fun and accessible. I loved it as a kid, I think they should bring it back. If they were prepared to resurrect Ulyses then surely Jayce should come back!

Petitions are in order - somebody make it happen!!!!!!
