I have recently bought a Playstation 2, and was trying out my old copy of Metal Gear Solid Special Missions on it. But when it asked me to put the MGS disc in, and i did, the screen came up with "Wrong Disc"
Is it possible to play MGS:Special Missions on the Playstation 2?

aha, you came to the right man :-D
I've had the same problem :-)

I got my PS2 near launch and had the MGS/special mission pack, When I put the Special missions disc in it said "error wrong disc" I thought the disc was faulty and took it back, after a swap of both MGS and the special missions disc EB tried it out for themselves on the PS2 in store, it of course said the same thing "error wrong disc".

Being the nice guys that they are, they gave me disc and a full refund for my troubles :-)

The special missons disc doesn't only check whether you've got the MGS disc in the drive but will also check the region part of your hardware, During PS1 emulation on a PS2 you aren't using the same hardware which causes this to misfire and will always say "error wrong disc" even though the right disc is in the drive.

I rung Sony and reported the fault and it still isn't on their incompatibility list for one reason or another. They sent me over to Konami who said it was a hardware issue and they could do nothing futher. I asked a guy who created a no need to swap disc xplorer code if he could take it one step further and skip the entire check screen.

He made one xplorer code and one gameshark code which bypassed the screen to loop to the opening FMV, unfortuanatly these codes won't work with the Xploder cheat CD which i have but I've yet to try them on the newer versions which are PS2 compatible.

To cut along story short, It won't work on the PS2 but it might if you try the xplorer code which i mentioned with a new new cheat CD.

hope that helped :-)
