Game idea ñ The Lost Weekend.

Ok, this game could be described as an RPG along the lines of ìDude Whereís My Car?î only slightly different. The game will be funny for a startÖ.

Unlike normal RPGís, there will be NO BEARDS in this game, just a bit of mild stubble initially. You see, you start the game on a Bank Holiday Monday morning. You wake up in a ditch. Your inventory consists of 47p, half a kebab stuck to various bits of your body, and a mobile phone.

The aim of the game? To discover what the hell happened since Friday evening when you left work. You have until the next Friday evening, when you meet up with your mates again to discover what actually happened.

The first level is a training level, and the only aim is to find your way home. This is itself shows how open ended the game is. Do you phone your parents and get them to pick you up, but have to explain to them why you went out with £150 and have the aforementioned 47p left? Do you blag a taxi ride, or walk? Or steal a car? The last option would obviously make the game more difficult, as you would have to discover what happened as well as avoiding the police.

Once youíve successfully got home, you need to have a shave and a shower, because up until this point everyone has thought of you as some sort of tramp. Once youíre ready to face the world, a text message arrives from ìBig Helgaî this signifies the start of the next level. The message asks you to meet up with her, as she wants to ìThank U 4 last nite. Want 2 do it again?î Again, the choice is yours. Do you go and try and find out some of what actually happened? Or does ìBig Helgaî sound too scary, so you decide to give it a miss?

The game gets harder, the further back through the weekend you go. If youíre blatantly not getting anywhere (as can happen in some RPGís), a helpful text message or phone call can point you in the right direction. The text messages could include things like ìDid I leave my knickers at yours? Can you call me? Dave.î And various helpful things like this.

The game is controlled in first person, but with the RPG aspects, like Deus Ex. Initially itís difficult to find your way about, as you are still hung over. This is represented by the screen going all wibbly (YH technical term). Sometimes blacking out completely. Your health bar will be low to start off with, but a swift bacon sandwich will soon revive you, if you can get some money. Perhaps mug someone? Itís all possible with the unique Freedom Engine that allows players to do exactly what they want.

The most important aspect of the game though will be itís humour aspect. It will try and follow in the footsteps of the late, great, Monkey Island. There could be the annoying little brother or sister. The mates that just laugh when you ask them what happened. All the comedy elements from classic films and games from the past would be in there.

All in all, I think it could be a hit!

POP for Dogsnuts.

Not sure what's happened to some of the characters though, they've gone a bit... weird in places.

Hmph.

It's a less grim version of Planescape: Torment. That's what it is isn't it. Wake up not knowing who you are or why you are in a morgue type place. Then you discover you are immortal (given away by the many referecnes to this fact in both the manual and on the box). Funny that immortality never gets in the way of gaming but I guess it's because you would just quick load anyway. This way you come back but lose a little progress. Good game Planescape: Torment, if you don't own it go and get a copy.

So THIS is what you were talking about!

Sounds like a fine game to me. Tell me, where did the inspiration come from? It sounds just crazy, a bit far fetched though, I asked my friends at the chess club and they told me things like this just don't happen in real life!

Anyway, congrats on the win you crazy character you.

I'm off to tell the whole of my revision group just how MAD you are.

Cheerio.

Title:

E.E

Plot:

Frank Butcher (a.k.a Mike Reid) has been on a mad drinking binge and has vague recollections of the lost week he spent drunk.

Guide Frank around the East End of London constructing all the events that took place from clues and rumors (Dot Cotton!). Interact with the cast... including guest appearance from the peanut headed Mitchel Brothers and of course RRRRicky!!! Have a romantic interlude with Pat Evans followed by a fight at the Vic with dear little Peggy.

The ACTION... the EXCITEMENT... the THRILL!!!

More info:

Oh yes, multi-platformed, has got to be on the PS2 with the vibro-pad option at least.

Would be played in an Goldeneye esque viewpoint mixed with live footage from the show.
