It is with great sadness, however, that I report that the musical tastes of this fair country have somewhat dimmed in my opinion, and all because of one man.
Coyote Dax. The name that strikes fear in to my heart every time the radio mentions it. What could this man have ever done to make him so lothable? Well, I'll tell you.
Mr Dax, the pseudo-western singer with a love of rodeo and high heeled snakeskin boots, has gone and made a remake of one of the worst songs ever created. Yes, there is now an all singing, all dancing Spanish version of Achy Breaky Heart. Nooooooooo! How could he have even thought about bringing this song back into circulation, let alone translating it in to something that seems to be climbing the charts at an alarming rate and seems to be providing him with ample album sales.
The video is almost as bad, with a troupe of western style dancers in the background, Coyote Dax lifts right leg after left and holds his hands on his hips like some zombie line dancer with a deathwish. He even has the audacity to smile all the time an ends up looking like a cross between John Wayne and Wayne Sleep. Itís all too unbearable to think about. Itís not as if the lyrics are even the same. The translation hasnít faired well, it starts with ëa little more, donít break my breaking heartÖí or words to that effect (I admit that my Spanish is still not up to scratch.
It wouldnít have been so bad if this was the singe sore point on the album, but you know that things arenít going to get much better when you hear the next track, a little western pop number entitled ëup up down downí (I kid you not!) Thank goodness that there are other Spanish artists like Camela to counteract this laughable pop act.
Incidentally, Iím sure amazon and other multi region record stores are selling the album, if you really want to feel pain, go and buy it!
If I ever hear the name Coyote Dax i'll stear well clear shall I, a dancy version? That iv'e got to see, or actually on second thoughts maybe not.
:D
