I have had a ps2 but it has broken. One of my computer friends opened it up but couldn't fix it so the guarantee is void. I am wondering whether to by a new ps2 or an x box.Which one would you recommend.

What do you think the answer is going to be when you come into an Xbox forum? Owning all 3 at once means I couldn't really care less which one you get. The PS2 is the weakest of the console which I own in terms of games and out of the 3 I believe the Xbox has the brightest future. Aside from Metal Gear Solid 3 and a new GTA game I can't see me getting anything for my PS2 which han't been released over the last few years.

In the end it's down to which you prefer. I have both and I certainly like my X-Box more, easily. Have a look at my 'What a line-up' topic to get an idea of which games are being released. Some are exlusives and some are multi-format, but from my experience, X-Box versions seem to be better than PS2 anyway.

There's a rumour that Vice City, and possibly even GTA3 will be coming to X-Box soon as well. If this happens my little old PS2 will be shown out the door.

Depends on what your gaming preferences are. Don't rule out GameCube, either.

On a general note, I'd say PS2 because it's got a much better selection of games. But you need to be more specific for improved recommendations.

I wouldn't say better collection. Bigger but not better.

I'd agree with that, I have about 25 PS2 games, I only play about 5 of them regularly. I have about 13 X-Box games and I enjoy them all.

The Xbox doesn't have all that many exclusives worth shouting about. The ones that it does have though are very good. This will all change once September hits with the release of Operation Flashpoint XB and RAW 2. The GameCube at the moment has more top exclusives out than any other console but by Christmas I know that for me the Xbox will be back at the top.

September - April is very exciting for Xbox owners as well as Cube owners. However between that time I can't really think of more than 2 titles which I will get for my PS2.

If you have games for the PS2 you like then the obvious thing to do is get another PS2.

Agreed. The PlayStation 2 has a rather dismal future, but I do believe that the current back catalogue is stable enough to keep it afloat until PlayStation 3 and is better than the Xbox selection. It looks like I'll have to resort to grabbing one of those quirky EyeToy things..
