I'm uprgrading my parents computer, suing old bits from his P75 (namely the floppy drive) and putting it together with my old AMD K6-2 processor and mobo.

Problem is, th floppy drive is not detected at all in Windows or DOS, it is detected in th BIOS however.

It worked fine in my dads ol PC, and the HDD and CD ROM work fine all together on the new mobo, but the floppy drive won't.

I'm thinking of just buying a new floppy drive, but I wondere if anyone on here knows what it could be. Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Masking tape..

I've got some bezels drying out on the patio at the moment, I'll see how they look in the case later...annoying lack of electronics shops in town, I'll have to pick up some LEDs in Cambridge.

my floppy is doing the same. I think my lead is in upside down though. I can just see the light through the blue spray paint :-)

It's almost certainly a problem with the IDE cable if the light is constantly on - check it's not out by one pin on either end, or try a different cable.

Off to town to buy some spray paint and finish my case tests, back later..

The light is on all the time, but the IDE cable has little tabs on, so it can't be put in upside down.

Can't remember a BIOS ever detecting a floppy drive, but anyway, check to see if the light on the drive in on constantly, if it is, the cable is in upside down.
