I was listening to Radio 1 on the way home from band and it was a feature about marketing brand-names to students whilst at University (a loathesome idea but not the point of this topic).
And there was a section about tobacco companies targetting Universities to encourage brand-loyalty.
And some bloke from A.S.H started bleating about "How they were trying to get people to smoke their particular brand" and I had to phone up Steve Lamacq and rant.
Except they decided to not put my call on air after all.
This...utter, utter tool from ASH was livid about students smoking.
Now, I know some people here are anti-smoking, whilst others smoke and we've all locked horns at one point.
But the majority of people here say "I hate smoking but it's your choice to die", which is fine by me.
No, what incensed me was hearing this self-righteous, pompous little dictator squealing like a stuck pig because students smoked!

See, I wasn't saying "Nobody tell me smoking is bad".

If ASH want to spout this stuff to students, fine. Let them. No-one who gets a smoking related disease can now claim they didn't know if people like ASH are constantly making a noise about it.

Um, I agree with his sentiments, because I'm completely anti-smoking, but he doesn't have the right to preach. I don't mind other people smoking, but only if they do it out of non-smokers company. And this isn't me saying ' Oh no, passive smoking can kill me', I know there's an almost infintile chance of that, I just find cigarette smoke annoying.
But I don't ask smokers to stop. If one of my friends who smoked offers me a cigarette, I'd say no politely.

If cigarette smoke made your cough and your eyes sting, and the smell made you nauseous, wouldn't you be a little cheesed off at people smoking in bars, restaurants and so forth?
Maybe his fanatical approach, and attempt to oppose his will on others discredits himself, and people like him, but can you blame him for getting a little over-excited about trying to stop people from wasting their lives?
