Playing online is being hailed as the real future of gaming. Consoles are now developing the online factor. It gives you a great sense of being social does online gaming. The fact that you are playing against other real people.
Now, donít get me wrong. I have nothing against the social side of online gaming. If people would rather play people in other countries, communicating via in-game chat, fine, so be it. Thatís their choice.
However, Iíd rather get 3 friends over, slap a copy of GoldenEye in my N64 and get ready for some manic James Bond action.
The atmosphere that is created when me and my mates enjoy some Goldeneye spoonage, or any other game in fact, is so electric, fun and enjoyable that I wish that I could re-create it everyday.
You get a real sense of friendship when playing computer games each other, especially when youíre blowing their characters brains out with double RCP90ís >:-)
Seriously though, the feeling I get when Iím playing a game with my mates is one of great excitement and a strengthening bond. No matter what game weíre playing, no matter how well Iím doing... or not doing, I enjoy myself.
Really, you have to see the battles we have on some games, they are absolutely manic. Most of the time we canít play properly because weíre laughing so much.
Now, tell me you can get that feeling when youíre playing online. Against real people, yeah, but remember, those people are represented by pieces of text that appear at the bottom of your screen. You canít hear their tone of voice.
Thereís no doubt about it, online gaming is still enjoyable, very much so,
But for me thatís the more serious side of gaming. Playing against other people who, most of the time, you donít know, knowing that you canít convey your true emotions because they canít here. Being properly competitive because youíre representing your clan (No members of the Dentists or oV to jump on me here) or for some other reason.
The fact that online gaming is the future is a fact that I donít disagree with, because itís true. Online gaming IS the future. And playing against other people via the 'Net is great fun, But Iíd rather have some of my mates round with a meal from the chippy and a copy of GoldenEye or Perfect Dark. And Iíd rather have that any day of the week, month or year.

But Online is NEARLY quite as fun being able

I want Nintendo to release a sort of Link Cable for the Gamecube so that multiple Gamecubes can link up, each with four players.
Goldeneye might've been interesting with teams of two but will be nothing compared to teams of four...
Online gamming is currently it an early stage but when the ps2 and x-box get going I would have to agree that the future is looking very good indeed! playing goldeneye online would have been amazing and some games (such as phantasy star online) have opened the way for some future gameplaying which is looking incredible an is bound to offer hours and hours of wonderful gameplay
But there is actually nothing better than blowing yer mates brains out, laughing and then getting a few digs in the arm.

It's the one about Nintendo serving no more than four...
It seems that Nintendo have misunderstood what people meant when they said to playing local friends rather than anonymous geezers of the web.
I would ask you to name them all, but I'm not that cruel.
:D
> lol.
Oh, ok.
So, who's names DON'T you know? :D
No ones. I know nearly ever single Regulars name. :-P
Oh, ok.
