I'm looking to buy a cheap laptop just for typing on. It needs At least Windows 98 for some writing software I want to put on there. What kind of price am I looking at and where's the best place to buy from? I don't want anything fancy, just basic. I'm hoping some of you own or know a bit about them...

There was one that was perfect on eBay for £80 apart from one thing...No CD drive (So I wouldn't be able to instal that software). Seems that all new ones have DVD players and CD writers can all this crap that I neither need or want. Meh.
Nowadays, would you even find a laptop 'just for typing' on ?
I mean other than places like EBay or newspapers and stuff.
Mine is a pretty good one. It's a Compaq. Only cost £49.. but that was after I traded in my other one :D

does it do the job 'for you' or '4' you'?
you could try ebay couldnt you, seen as you dont want anything to flash. I am using a dell latitude and it does the job 4 me.
