Me Iím a good Nintendo boy, well I was until the 28th of august when I got a new playstation 1 with final fantasy 8.
I was sitting at the kitchen table playing a distant form of football with my cat and a milk bottle top when my uncle came through the door with a large red carrier bag. He dropped it on the table and said in a loud voice ìTada!î. I opened the bag and inside was a brand spanking new ps1. I said thanks and quickly rushed up to my room to connect it up. As I was getting the ps1 out I notices a CD case also in the bag. I picked it up and read the title ìfinal fantasy 8î. So I set it up, placed in disk number 1, pushed down the lid and turned on the power.
I was instantly hooked by the mesmerizing graphics of the intro clip. (This is were it started)
I missed my uncleís whole visit and most the day, only coming down for lunch and dinner.
It was turned off at around 11:30pm and then turned on again at 7am.
Random battles and stats up grades took up the rest of the summer holidays.
But it wasnít so bad, oh no, well not till 2 days into the school year when I brought myself 2 memory cards from special reserves Bristol store (this is when it really started to hot up). You see ever since I got ff8, every time I turned it on I had to start a new game but now I could play the entire game from start to finish.
Now the game was 100 times more addictive as I could venture into new lands and discover the story line into so much depth it would make you head spin.
What I would of give to turn back time and not buy those evil memory cards.
From that moment on my life has been a living hell. I donít know how, I donít care how; all I care is getting out of this prison lost in the far regions of my mind.
You see as I keep playing I have no time to study for tests (like SATs and end of term) and in lessons I canít concentrate on any thing (all I can think of is that dam game). It has even come to the point where I canít get to sleep at night because Iím either playing the game until 5 or 6 in the morning or thinking about the plot, what I am going to do plus fight tomorrow. So my head just keeps buzzing and I canít relax.
You see I think itís a massive conspiracy on Sonyís behalf.
It goes a bit like thisÖ
1.) you buy a playstation x
2.) you buy an amazing game
3.) you get a memory card
4.) you turn on the game
5.) you get hooked
6.) you canít concentrate on anything else so you get bad grades and end up in a job like working in a petrol station (no disrespects for those who work in one)
7.) You then have no life and spend all your spare cash on Sony goods.
Whether they made a pact with the devil or just thought it out extremity carefully it still goes to stand, as soon as you push that tiny button saying I/O (off on) you flush your life down the pan.
I am already a goner and I donít know how much longer I can last so I say to you this:
Step away from the console, donít be drawn in by the smooth curves and the stylish body as so many of us have done and perished.
If your reading this the chances are you still have a chance so please, please heed my words of advice before its too late!
Thanks for reading and take care.
Lexus
it did it to me again.
i was all set to go on fog chat last night but just before i did i thought i would play a little ff8.
big mistake.
i then stoped playing at 1/2 past one!
is there a doctor in the house?
I get good grades in school and I keep going out with my friends but when the Xbox arives I hope I can focus and get the work done for my GCSEs and not just play Halo.
Thats strage though. All the gamers in my school who play the FF series do badly in school and have few friends. Final Fantasy must be evil.
That blue light on the PS2 though. There's something up with that. When I bought my PS2 I was a high flyer at college, now a few months down the line I find I'm sitting at home, unemployed with few prospects.
On the flip side, I can now drive cars on GT3 and have lead a revolution on mars and saved Princesses and stuff, so at least my life's not dull! :-)
I'm kidding
You just have to treat it properly and limit yourself :-)
