Bullying in schools, something that continues to occur, and will probably always be an issue until attitudes and living standards change drastically for the better in the country within the next few years. What makes a child bully? What makes an adult bully?

It's not just children bullying children in schools, sometimes, although very rarely, there will be cases of teachers bullying students, in whatever way, shape or form, however slight the abuse, bullying from teachers does take place. But, the most common, is student bullying student, or groups of students picking on another, and quite frankly they suck big time.

The bullies are the cowards, picking on someone who they perhaps cannot accept, maybe because of their race, religion, the clothes that they wear, and to make themselves feel better, they try and get their kicks (both literally and emotively) out of bullying others.

But sometimes you have to think why are the bullies like that, what makes them bully? Ok, so a fight can break out from a conflict in opinion, or for some petty reason, and that's not neccessarily bullying, but bullies pick on someone, very often not for any reason at all.

Their family life and living situation maybe that they are abused or bullied themselves, from their own family, and maybe that's why they unleash their anger on others, the disrespect is just terrible, and bullying can really break up someone's life, it can affect and change children, and although it may not cease totally, it can certainly be stopped once found out about.

If you're being bullied, or know someone that is being bullied you HAVE to tell someone, tell a teacher, a parent, don't let it continue, whether it's verbal or physical, just don't allow it to continue.

Once the bully is shown up they may stop, their situation may become apparent (i.e. them telling the teacher that their parents are abusing them, for example) and they may lead a better life, the bullying may stop and it could help a great deal.

Bullies are not born, they are made, and they can be made back into 'non bullies', more respect in the world. Don't let it happen, if it does, you have to tell someone.

You are forgetting about the teachers. Although "bullied" is not the best word to use, Teachers are Intimidated, threatened and generally abused (verbally or Physically) at school just like children.

Reflecting back at the short time I was at school, I can now see what effect I may have had on my teacher. I can't remember her name but I had a female maths teacher who I didn't like simply because I didn't want to be in her class. So basically while she was teaching my class, I made her livid. I would continually walk about the classroom, make sarcastic remarks, talk whenever she talked even directed verbal abuse at her when she responded to my comments.

Eventually I got what I wanted and was moved to a lower "set" for maths, where I could be with my mates. At the time I was "the man" getting one over on a teacher and doing as much as I could to make her teaching career a nightmare.

The funny thing is, out of all the years I was at school I was NEVER rude, impolite or generally "disturbing" to any other teacher, ever.

Unfortunately there are many other pupils at schools today who are as bad or even worse than I was who continually "attack" teachers in what ever way they can. I also not surprised one bit that there is a teacher shortage and that those who are teachers are demanding better pay and conditions. Would you teach?

PS I went to the same school as former Tory Leader William Hague (although several years after him)
