Great news, cardboard is so 90's, nice to have a standard across all formats.

Quoted from cube-europe.com and somewhere else I've forgotten, if you want to read the full story

Oil takes millions of years to form so it is running out and when it dose things like plastic and petrol will be things of the past.
However we shouldn't worry too much because anything can happen (and it will) that will change the way we live.

Paper comes from a renewable source, oil doesn't. (or it does, but takes millions of years to form).

Meh, oil isn't running out, it's oil supplies that are running out, plenty of places we haven't even begun to extract it from yet.

Anyway, Nintendo has been using cardboard cases since the beginning and right up to the Gamecube. Think how many trees they have slaughtered ? Even if they used recycled paper then they still forced someone else to use real trees 'cause there is not an infinite amount of recycled paper to use... :P

oh, and having smaller dvd cases for the cube wouldn't work, however nicey nicey oil saving it would be.
people would call ninty, the 'company that drove hundreds of shelf stackers everywhere insane with the impossible to keep in the holders uber-thin cases'

If you want to save oil then keep the cardboard cases.
Or invent some sort of cold fusion engine.

We're not saying it isn't true.

We're just pointing out that you stated one of the most blindingly obvious facts ever.
