Smoking, its not cool and its not funny. This is the message that we should be giving out to kids, as a nation we should be united in trying to steer kids away from taking up smoking because it is perceived as cool and the thing to do.

This may be a little rash and harsh but I believe that a hard-hitting advertisement campaign on TV’s and billboards would do the trick. Something outlined the dangers as only graphic pictures and words can do. Smoking is not good, it causes death, it will kill you.

If it were cool to be bitten by poisonous snakes and die would kids do it? No, of course not. So they are not educated enough about the risks, either that or they don’t believe them.

When I see young children lighting up a fag after school I am sickened and appalled. This is not because I am easily offended or have strict morals. It is because society has inflicted the penalty of an early death on our youth as a result of smoking.

Smoking is in my opinion, a vile and stupid habit. Its clogs your lungs and the possibility of sever bronchitis and cancer is very real. And what do smokers get from this? A good sensation and a nice feeling, they like it. Absolute rubbish. Smoking does nothing to make you feel any different.

I can understand the use of alcohol and cannabis as these drugs actually have a short term beneficial effect. Smoking doesn’t. They only feel like it is good due to the dependency on the drug and the fact that their body’s now need and crave nicotine every hour of every day.

People who smoke have every right too, it is their life and so long as they don’t harm anyone else they can feel free to smoke. It is their life, for them to do with as they feel fit. We must however, counter the image that smoking is cool and a good thing to do. Let people make an informed decision to whether they want to smoke without pressure from friends and the media.

Please take into consideration that I do not bear a grudge against smokers, more on smoking, and I am not condemning you for your habit, nor am I telling you to quit smoking, but the youth of today, lighting up so young, and helping to wreck their lives. Its saddening.

I coughs all the time but it doesn't put me off. Its just a side affect. Cigarettes help me relax and de-stress. Especially when you go go-karting in 200cc carts and there is a sign on the door asking for £3 and that they will give you £25,000 if you die or lose a limb!

lol.

Weed is tested non-addictive. the only possible addiction or long term side effects are from the tobacco used to smoke it with. Surely the fact that it is legal as a prescription drug (to smoke) is an indicator of this...

I disagree completely.

Drinking is not at all like smoking weed or pot - how many alcoholics do you know compared to pot heads?

Well?

Drinks containing alcohol are fine in moderation, and yes occasionally, to frequently, people do have "too much" to drink and your liver won't be best pleased, but you can still have a good time without being drunk, you won't become addicted to alcohol as easily as weed or even smoking.

Ok, good, bye.

It was easier to go along and not get whupped for being a loser.

1st few made me sick, but I continued until I realised I actually enjoyed it.

It's not big or clever at all, but it wasn't adults smoking around me that made me. It was wanting to fit-in at school.

Sad really, peer pressure sucks.

I'm surprised at that :-)

I managed to just say bog off you moron... not that smokers are morons but the morons that smoke them at my school.

Errr.

Cigar anyone? :-)

If you heard the way my dad coughs and chokes every morning, you wouldn't touch a cigarette again.

Smoking isn't clever but it does help me relieve stress. When i'm getting stressed with too much work at once and everyone keeps phoneing me up I just go out for a cigy and wind down a bit. It definatly has a short term effect.
