Hot off the press yesterday, so in short, released Japan July 03, Europe Jan 04, USA ?
"We are delighted to confirm that we have secured this license with Irem and have rights to publish R-type Final throughout PAL territories," said Andy Law, general manager at Metro3D Europe. "A product of this caliber is proof that we mean business as an up-and-coming publisher to watch out for."
R-Type Final has been available in Japan since July, and it is currently scheduled for release in Europe in January 2004. No North American release has been confirmed at this time, but we'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
Can't wait 'til next year so will have to get Jap copy :)

No, only getting a Jap release as is often the case with shoot em ups, Ikaruga on the Cube is gonna take some beating though.
I saw a review of that other one (crazy japanese name) - it got 82% or there abouts.
