Is it on a screen which is similar to the Total War games? I mean, do you move "pieces" into countries, territories etc? Or is it set out on one huge piece of landscape like the Age of Empires games?

it is almost similar to AoE, except ships with cannons fire sideways!!! at last!!!
it depends what type of game you play there is the skirmish which is just carnage on one map or there is play the world which means you start of with one nation and you invade other coutrys by sending in your armys. you then are in there land where you build up a force and invade them to take there land. it is a good game and hard to master
