Hey!

Haven't been posting recently on the forums but I got a new PS2 today after thinking of getting one for a while. Got Tekken 4 and an Eye Toy for free which is quite a nice surprise and fantastic fun :)

Anyway that aside...

I am thinking of getting Devil May Cry 2 however I don't want to tarnish how I feel on the series as the first one is one of my favourite games to date. How does it compare to the first and is the formula kept similar or have they changed the code and character movements?

I would rather get your opinions than from reviewers who dig as far into the game as they can to up root a load of none sense which won't be spotted on the surface.

Cheers guys!

I usually hate boss battles however you couldn't help but admire and love the amazing bosses created in Devil May Cry. The giant spider, the huge bird are just a couple of the amazingly detailed bosses in the first. What really sets the game apart from others is the character design and variation. The character art is quite possibly the finest I have ever seen but its something Capcom are quite famous for. Some of the mini boss battles in Resident Evil Zero are fantastic and the design for each one is something which other developers should look upon for their own games.

I am going to rent a game tomorrow providing my Blockbusters is open (bank holiday) so I will have a glance through. I may give it a rental before hand as I would like to see how everything works before I shell out on a game which may disappoint.

The bosses are crap generally. What's that one called, "undead chopper" or something? Basically you have to fight zombie versions of tanks and helicopters. Worst game idea ever.

The Boss fights are a real let down compared to the original, you can beat most of them at the first attempt.
Where the first game gave you a good sense of achievement after finally defeating a Boss,DMC 2 feels a little flat.

Cheers Blank. Thats reiturated exactly what the reviewers said which is bad news as the first game was and always will be a personal all time favourite. I could have chosen it in a package today but I opted for Tekken 4 instead which is a cracking game.

The only way I am going to see for myself is to either rent it or go on a blind purchase and hope for the best. Being a big fan of the first puts me on shaky ground as I will be disappointed a lot of it doesn't equal the original but also disappointed if it doesn't improve on the original. From all accounts it fails to improve but with a bit of luck it will turn out to be a decent game with a reasonable level of enjoyment.

Not as good as the original at all I'm afraid. Loses the claustrophobic feel, the enemies aren't as charasmatic, the storylines rubbish. Not awful, and worth a look, but nowhere near the excellence of the first.
