I play games on my PC and my xbox, and, after much deliberation (and wasting of money and savings) I want to make my own game, but I don't know where to start. I want to make one of those arcade classic kind-of-games, so do I need some software to make the game. Please help!

You need to learn to program first, probably in C++. It'll take quite a bit of effort to get to the stage where you can start making games, but if you want help or advice with it then try the Web Design, PC, Internet and Freeola forum.

I'd recommend starting out with a book called Learning to Program in C++ by Steve Heller.

You really need to ask in the PC Gaming forum, I think, this is pretty much just Xbox now.
