I'm sitting on my bed playing a rather engulfing game of GT3 on my PS2 when all of a sudden there is a rather big and bright flash. When I can finally see, I notice that I am in the game, driving the Astra Touring Car. I take a look at the backround, noticing that the graphics are just the same as if I was looking at the TV. Rather amazed, I looked forward, and noticed that the car was heading for a wall, so I sharply turned, not really sure what I am doing. Once I have got over what has happened, I start to get really into the driving. As a kid, I always wondered what it might be like to be in the games that I play, and now it has happened.

I carry on driving and quite an herendous speed, when I all of a sudden lose control of the car, and go spinning off the track. I am just about to hit the wall, and I put my hands in front of my face. When I move them, I find myself back in my bedroom, on my bed, with the controller in my hand, looking at my TV with GT3 on it, with the Astra, lifeless next to a wall. I suddenly realise that I must have been daydreaming. I turn off the PS2, and head towards my door. I open the door and walk through. As I walk through, there is another bright flash, and I then find myself with a Minigun, in what looks like the levels of Doom. I looked at myself, and I had all of the original characters gear on. While completely enthralled in the graphics of the games, trying to come to terms with what the hell is going on, when I turn round and see a big pink thing coming towards me. Without a second thought, I unload bullets into the hidious monster thing. He turns into a blood. I then hear screams in the background. I cacked my pants (if I was really wearing them). I turned around and started to run for the corner. I tried to dive around and shoot at whatever monster was awaiting me. But I couldn't dive. I then realised that because I was in the game of Doom, I could only do what the character in the game could.

I had a crack at diving again, and as I did so, there was another bright flash. I thought to myself "oh, not again". And as I was thinking that, the light disappeared, and I found myself diving to the left, with two Desert Eagles in my hands, unloading some bullets into two blokes standing in front me in a Subway. As I got up, I realised that I was now in Max Payne. At this point I was actually starting to enjoy myself. I ran down the subway corridor, when I heard a bloke shouting out for someone around the corner. Remembering what happened next, I took another dive aroung the corner. I took loads of shots, but missed him every time. I got up, and looked at the bloke behing the railings. I raised my guns to fire, but it was too late, he took one shot, and hit me right in the forehead.

At this point, I come back to reality, and find myself sitting in front of my PC, playing Max Payne, with my character lying dead in front of the bloike behind the railings.
A little shaken, I turned of my PC, and went up for a shower try and wake me up. Boy what a day.

Ok, so this may be a bit farfetched, and I know that this has and probably will never happen. But, I have played games that do feel real in some way, or you sometimes feel that your actually there. And now that consoles are now becoming more advanced and powerful, this could be more so.
I just hope that games continue to get better and better in this respect, and that more games become available where you actually feel as though you are there.

*Flash*

I am sitting in a train-cab.
I look down, many dials do nothing.
I look left and see lovely scenery rolling by.
Same from the right window.
I stare ahead and read my newspaper, occasionally muching my cheese sandwich.
This is boring.

*Flash*

Bet you cant guess what I fell into?

(And you thought I'd given up on that game)

FLASH!

I'm sitting on a bench, watching a team of no-hopers get a good hiding. 5-0 is the score. Man this team are crap! The final whistle blows, and the manager of the other team comes to shake my hand. Why me, I wonder, before I realise that I am the opposing manager, the manager of the team that just got thumped. Aw heck, I'm in Championship Manager.

I take a few minutes to get used to my surroundings, assess my players. I get them out on the training field, and they're doing fine. Why aren't they playing well out on the pitch? I work at several new formations, and a few games later the boys play like heroes, and steal a point a win from home. A couple of draws follow, and we're level on points with the team above, we'll be off the bottom in no time, I thought.

The next game came, and we came back from 2-1 down to win 3-2. Unfortunately our nearest rivals also got a win, put we're certainly playing well, and on the up!

The chairman calls me into his office, he's going to tell me how impresseed he is with our last few performances, I think, but no, to my horror, he's had enough, he's given me the elbow!

So I look in the situations vacant. There are several jobs available, so I apply for them all. The weeks turn to months, and still no work. I retire.

FLASH!

I'm back in the living room sat by the PC, it's getting late, but what the hey

*clicks New Game*

It's your lucky day today.

You'll give Cell a pummelling and get a free game.

Well done.

ok...

So one day I find my self looking down on a floor and slowly falling down towards it in 1 metre jolts.

I'm a big block of concrete slowly going down.

Suddenly I drop and land with a thud.

Now I'm up in the air again.

I've turned into a long cuboid shaped block, again falling in metre jolts towards the floor.
A sudden twist and I become vertical.
Then another twist... horizontal again.

I can see the big block of concrete below.

Dropping again, the big block of concrete getting rapidly nearer... I'm going to smash...

THUD!

Ok, I'm now a not-so long block, only with a smaller block sticking out at the bottom.

The cuboid is below, covering the first block.

I'm just over them...

Wait, dropping...

THUD.

Now I'm a different shape...

What? Dropping already?

THUD.

A block again.
The others have made a sort of tower, just below me...

Thud.

Argh. This time I'm practically on top of it...

Game over...

What do you mean I played crap?

YOU try playing tetris from that camera angle!!

Oh no, there's that flash again. When I open my eyes, I find myself on a multi-platform building, with the character Ayane in front of me. I look down at myself, and see myself in the black dragon costume. I'm Jann Lee, my favourite character. I here someone say,"FIGHT". Ayane starts to attack me. I take a blow to the chops, and that puts me into focus. She tries to kick me. I grab the kick and pull her under me (mmmmmm) and stomp on her face. She gets up, I get her in a headlock, snap her neck and then bulldog her. She gets up, I run towards here and give her one hell of a flying kick. She flys over the edge. Battle over and won.

I suddenly get transported to the arena with one platform in the middle and an electric fence. The fight is against the rather huge Leon. The fight begins. One punch to the stomach and I fly over the edge. My face hits the ground and I awake, on the floor beside my bed.
Damn, I have got to stop doing that!

Everyone, pick a game, and do it yourself.

Being totally engrossed and lost in a game is a great feeling. It's good for the soul. It's like technological Zen meditation. I advise everyone on these forums to shave their head, clothe themselves in an orange robe, and become a gaming monk. Ring the bell. AUM.

I always wondered what it would be like to be in say a racing or shooting game but I wonder what it would be like to be in a carzy platformer like say Banjo Kazooie. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
