Be sure to get the Operation Flashpoint: Resistance demo as well.
I havn't tried the PC version of Nightfire, but the Xbox version is great. No really great. And it is the same game. Yes there are better FPSes out there, but James Bond is special.
the graphics are looking dated now - there is a sequel in the works, but it doesn't matter because it really is a very realistic combat simulation.
I would invest in it and give it a go. It can be very hard in places, but stick with it. Also, another oldie of this genre that is good is hidden and dangerous.

i see you're right-
i'm a new gamer, so i don't know much- but could it be that battlefield is just easier to figure out? as a gaming dope, (for example, i don't know what a mod is) i generally avoid games that are too hard to figure out, or that pre-suppose that you already know some of the basic controls or commands.
in any case, thanks for the input. i'll be trying the demos for botth battlfield and operation flashpoint.
