What do I do now?

The PS2 has come down in price, Nintendo are making announcements left right and centre about new games, new developers, exclusive games etc, and Mircosoft just sit there saying "We've got some great games as well".

I'm not even more confused!!

What do I do?

Wait for the 'Cube or XBox - a hard enough choice between just those two - or get a PS2 (probably for Christmas, as I'm skint now.

Aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!

I think my head is going to explode.

I hate choices!

Why can't one of the consoles be a blatantly better offer than the rest, that way it's easy!

I hate being able to make my own decisions, as I can't choose!

I would say the GC, due to the similar feeling controller and games that dont really revolutionise i wouldnt get PS2.

The GC has many new ideas to incorperate there is a big secret around Mario Sunshine and this GBA link up will be special.

I'll get my GC i will not be swayed, my brother is getting a PS2 mind.

I think you should buy them all, assuming there are games you want to play on all 3 consoles. If you cannot afford this, steal. OR you could decide which has the most games you'd like to play and buy that.

Console wars are dead as Beats International now anyway - pointless and unnecessary - the latter which no one ever seems to point out. The consoles will all be similarly priced, when we take into account which ones come with hard drives, modems and the like. They are all so powerful that developers won't feel restricted on any machine, so there is no discernable physical, pure grunt, difference.

The developers have the power now. The last generation has seen the 3rd party franchise replace the console mascot as the bankable commodity. Forever one Mario or Sonic, there are five FIFAs, Tekken's, Res Evil, Tony Hawk etc.

In the last generation these were occasionally bound to one console - no more. As games are the only real differentiating factor, the 3rd party has the upper hand - and the big three know this. If they want to sell their consoles they need to offer something the others can't. All have powerful consoles and reputations can be made in months, no one knowing this better than Sony.

As no one can make enough AAA, must have titles themselves all need the 3rd parties, which leaves them in a very powerful position. If they sign exclusivity deals it limits the return they can potentially get on developing a game. It cost far less to port one of your existing titles than to make a whole new one - not only in development costs, but in marketing and Q&A. Therefore it is in the 3rd parties interests to get their games on as many consoles as possible. If the console makers are keen to sign up all the games and make sure their hand is at lest as good as their competitions... we're stuck! If the consoles are similar and the games are similar, how do we choose what to buy?

It's left to the in-house games. Pick who makes the in-house titles you like best and bingo. There are a number of time limited exclusivity deals, but these will be ported as soon as the mostly one year deal runs out. For lasting exclusives you have to look in-house. There will be no Tomb Radier style, one console successful franchise this time round.

The GC will have all the classics though.

I can't remember all the titles but what about

Metroid Prime
Pikman (i think)
about 4-5 sport games.
Mario
Perfect Dark

There are more but i can't name them all.
Also the GC has a MUCH better controller than both the Xbox and PS2.

Well you still have until until november to make your decision.
Keep your eyes peeled for announcements from all sides.

You could find a friend who owns a PS2 and "move in" with him/her for a bit to play in the mean time...

Erm... not that I'm disagreeing with you, but don't you think its a tad unfair to say that the PS2 is the best when the other two consoles haven't been released?
