It's a bit stupid. I guess it was some american setting they forgot to change for UK people.

For anyone having problems...

You have to put your area code in as the first three digits of your area code, then the phone number is the last digit and your phone number.

EG :

Your area code : 0121

Your phone number : 2111111

Xbox area code : 012
Xbox phone number : 12111111
