Games are a life in themselves, and like real life they mark the individual with unforgetable moments - both good and bad.
Whether you've been playing video games for 12 months or 12 years, looking back into the multi-coloured mists of one's gaming history, there will undoubtably be many striking moments to remember.
With this in mind, I present below my gaming unforgetables.
If you have the inclination, perhaps you could add your own.

*Most Fun Moment:
Speeding down Pacific Heights for the first time in an open-top yellow cab to the American punk rock tunes of Offspring on CRAZY TAXI. Unforgetably fresh.

*Most Intense Moment:
Shooting wildy whilst hastily backing away down any of the shadowy demon-infested corridors in QUAKE. Thinking about it, Quake was, at the time, a truly intense and spooky ride from start to finish. Also, playing RIVEN: it took me 2 weeks of obsessive intensity to complete it - I still have the frayed notebook full of jottings and sketches of animals to prove it. Unforgetable.

*Most Stunning Moment:
There have been many, but the one which stands out in my mind is the haunting motorbike ride of Ryo & Nozomi through the deserted city streets at night on SHENMUE. Unforgetable.

*Most Difficult Moment:
Trying 50 plus times to beat the final boss of TUROK 2. Did anyone defeat this son of gun without the aid of a cheat?! No wait! I had the cheat (BEWAREOBLIVIONISATHAND), and I still couldn't waste the b****r! Un- flippin' -forgetable!

*Most Surreal Moment:
Having to take part in a deadly game of Double Dutch skipping in ILLBLEED on the Dreamcast. The skipping rope was held at either end by two sinister little girls and was razor-sharp. You had to make 10 successful skips to progress. Obviously if you mis-timed a jump and the razor-sharp rope snagged your flesh, you were ripped apart in a most gruesome fashion. Weirdly Unforgetable.

*Most Humourous Moment:
Unintentional humour in games is what always makes me chuckle: like in SHENMUE when a young lad approaches Ryo and says: "Hey mister, wanna wrestle with me?" - or the appallingly stiff voice acting in CONFIDENTIAL MISSION. Unforgetable??

*Most Frustrating Moment:
Not being able to get through the first level of CHAKAN on the MegaDrive. Maybe I was naive at the time to how games played and worked, but I could hardly get off the first screen, never mind get through the first level. Sadly Unforgetable.

*Most Satisfying Moment:
Finishing THE LEGEND OF ZELDA on the SNES and watching the credits roll knowing I had restored peace to the land of Hyrule. Ah, I'm welling up just thinking about it. Okay I'm not, but it was the first adventure game I ever played and finished: so for me it was - Unforgetable.

Thanks for reading.
