NTSC - must be RGB SCART and compatible TV.

PAL - can be any.

Oh yeah, so it will, sorry. Must be an RGB SCART for Region1 DVDs, region 2 discs will still work with a S-VHS though.

sorry to question your reply but are you sure.....im sure i have read peoples post on this site claming that the wrong type of lead lead to a B/W picture

You can use whatever lead you like, although RGB is better quality then S-VHS.
