He wasn't talking to you. Don't assume every reply is replying directly to you.
Quite alot of timing is needed!
Remember after getting from rope to rope to press R, so then you can spin round and shimmy up or down the rope to line yourself up for the next rope.

Mess you forgot you need to HOLD the R button so you can climb and spin around the rope.
