So, I thought I would change it a bit and give it a go with Grand Theft Auto 3. I've read a couple of reviews and seen a full video somewhere on the net and the game looks great.
You escape prison when your paddy wagon "accidently" crashes and you flee with your co-prisoner. He introduces you to his contacts and away you go to make your way up the crime ladder and become the ultimate mobster.
The game is packed with missions, sub-missions and many ways in which to make a quick buck (you can nick a taxi and ferry around picking up passengers).
The set is once again Liberty City, which is split up into many districts; complete with their own unique architecture, clientele and motors. The games appeal is the fact you can roam the city with unbridled freedom. As in any other GTA game you can steal any car you see, start fights with complete strangers or just cruise the streets with a delicious arsenal of firepower and perform a few unprovoked drive-bys (as you do!!!).
The cars available depend greatly on the city district you're in. Where the industrial district has knackered old station wagons, the financial district has speedy convertibles. Your best cars can be stored in a garage (which also acts as your save point) to be used in later missions whwn a little extra horsepower is needed. You'll also be able to command boats and even fly a plane.
As always in the GTA games the cars are not authentic but can get smashed to pieces if battered and rammed into unsuspected drivers or cops hahahaha.
GTA3 has a specific timescale; in 30 minutes of playing time, Liberty City experiences a full day. In the day civilians persue the shops for bargains, by night the hoodlums crawl out of the shadows to commit all kinds of unscrupulous acts. Adding to this, certain missions can only be carried out at certain times of day.
You have a felony meter (as always) which will rise if you cause a commotion (well what else are you going to do???). The more you meter rises the more you will attract the attention of the LCPD, or even a lone patrol car passing. Give the officer a kick in and more cops will arrive.
If you break the law then you'll be followed, maybe by the lone patrol car, or two, or maybe the "eye in the sky" taking flight and following your every move. Getting away from this baby is hard but with the right connections and firepower its not that hard (you know what I mean, boom!!!).
The game also includes some special guest voices from some famous actors. These include Michael Masden, Kyle MacLachlan, Frank Vincent and Joe Pantoliano. These will feature in many of the games cut-scenes, these cut-scenes will piece together the plot, but you'll be the one who determines the outcome.
It is said that the game will take over 48 hours to complete but thats if you know what your doing. This doesnt seem very long but knowing me i'll take time strolling the city blowing apart cars and kicking some a$%.
Anyone have any comments on the game, or would like to add anything please do so.
Thanks for reading.

In fact I think it remains my fave.

Give the original author/publication the credit then and don't try writing and claiming it. And as for hearing it, why not just say, I read it in OPS2 after you were rumbled?? Because you hoped I wouldn't remember didn't you. :D
